Miners Rest Cup on the picturesque King Island

The Miners Rest Cup is not just a race; it's an experience, a testament to the enduring spirit of horse racing in a remote and beautiful corner of the world.

The Trainers

Miners Rest Cup was born from a group of trainers once labelled in national media dispatches as the ‘Tuki Twelve’ after a long lunch at the Tuki Trout Farm caused them to fall foul of racing stewards.

They aim to combine their collective loves of racing, eating, drinking and a round of golf thrown in for good measure.

The Horses

Six trainers will purchase six horses through an online platform. Each horse and trainer will be linked to a local charity on King Island, who will be the worthy recipients of any prizemoney earned by the horses throughout their campaigns on King Island.

Each horse will race in the colours of their trainer emblazoned with the logo of their sponsor. The horses are set to be shipped to King Island in mid-November and be ready to race at their first meeting in early December 2023.
